Interview conducted at the Methuen, MA Waterfall on 7/22/09

Jessica: Give me some general information about yourself- kind of like a Myspace biography. What would you say to someone who didn’t know you?

Heather: Well… I’m Heater. I like being outside and hate being inside. I love flowers, and I tried to find one to bring today for my picture, but couldn’t.

J: Has going to a Catholic high school for 4 years made you more or less interested in religion?

H: I am more interested, but not in the Catholic religion. I want to know more about other religions. (The high school) asked us to fill out a survey at the end of the year and I checked off that it would be interesting to learn about other religions.

J: Having been in one all of high school, what do you see as some of the benefits and drawbacks of single-sex private schooling?

H: One of the benefits is definitely uniforms- everyone dresses the same so there is no (one saying) “you dress like that… that’s so weird.” You also stay close (to people) and know everybody because the school is so small. There are a lot of drawbacks. There is so much drama without boys there. All of the girls are fighting. You can’t experience the real “high school-ness” (while in a private all-girl school).

J: You love The Beatles, like I do, so what is your favorite Beatles song and why?

H: “Hey Jude”. It’s so pretty and kind of like “go out there and get what you want… don’t just sit around and wait for it”.

J: How do you think the Beatles influenced music?

H: They were like the band that was out there and will stay around forever. Even the drug phase… everyone looks at the Beatles. I think that Thrice did a cover of the Beatles. There is at least one song for every person to relate to.

J: Do you think that there are any bands or musicians today who have the same staying power as the Beatles?

H: I don’t think that anyone today will be as influential towards music and everything else… now it’s all sex… like the Birthday Sex song… just weird…

J: Have you seen “Across the Universe”?

H: It’s my favorite movie!

J: What do you think of Jim Sturgess?

H: Jim Sturgess is an awesome actor. He’s gorgeous. He played the part very good.

J: I agree. I wish he’d put out an album of all Beatles covers.

H: Definitely.

J: So, what are your plans for college and beyond?

H: I am going to Wentworth Institute of Technology (in the fall) for civil engineering. I want to worth with NASA and they have a co-op that will allow me to do that. One day you’ll see me doing skyscrapers if I can’t do NASA. I’d like to engineer a huge space station for people to live in. I love space.

J: That’s an amazing ambition- one that many people don’t have. How about travel? Where is one place that you’d like to go that you have not yet been?

H: I want to go to Italy. My family is from Italy. My parents went with my grandparents to see where we are from. My ancestors are buried there. I want to see where they lived and where they are now. I want to experience Italy.

J: Well that’s all I wanted to ask. Thank you for allowing me to interview you.

H: Thank you.
